And another thing...

Three days and one night packing and toting is taking a toll on my body. The last three days I've come home in the evening and once I've sat down, it's hard to get back up. Advil has been my friend.

I've gotten the two smaller bedrooms completely cleared, including 4 large boxes of Beanie Babies, four large boxes of Possible Dreams and Clothique santas, a christmas village (complete with a snow covered pumpkin house) and four boxes of varying sizes of christmas ornaments. All but the Beanies are now in my basement as none would survive unheated storage very well. Besides, I'll likely put everything out at Christmas.

The dressers and closet in mom's bedroom are cleared, all pictures packed into a 36 gallon plastic tub (that is completely filled) and today I packed up all of the collectibles from the filled curio cabinet, and cleaned out all financial paperwork from the roll top desk.

I have to pack up everything in the china cabinet tomorrow. Then it will just be a matter of moving stuff into storage. But at least the new tenant has two rooms he can begin moving things into as well as the kitchen cabinets.

50 years worth of stuff, including a bright red Juice O Matic from the 1950's, a vase and matching peacock in a white mottled finish ala 1960, the manual for the 1952 Gibson refrigerator and an old brown glazed stonewear dutch oven have made this an experience in time.

Ian helped me on Saturday and we spent a good hour looking at old family pictures. There's something about seeing your mom in a mini dress that just doesn't sit well with him. *grins*

We should be able to move boxes and small furniture items into storage by the end of the week but will likely hire two men and a truck to move the large furniture...hopefully by Monday.

I'm wondering if maybe things will calm down after the new tenant moves in. At least I won't have to stop by the house three times a week to check on it, water flowers, cut grass and get mail.
