This big deal being made about gay marriage is fairly stupid.

Let's make something clear. Because two gay people want to be married and enjoy the legal benefits of this status, it will not harm me or anyone else in any way. I've yet to see even one arguement that exlpains how this is harmful to anyone. Some people make the religious argument, but last I checked, we're not bound to any religion here in the US.

Get over it grandstanding morons in Washington. Two gay people getting married does not in any way shape or form change the validity or importance of my marriage. It doesn't trivialize my relationship, why do you fear it will do so to yours?

Fuck, spend your time legislating something that might actually help humanity.

Ditto that

But you know, the reason the politicians take stands like that is to satisfy all the religious and biased people who are freaked out by it. People they want to vote for them.

Legislatures vote to be re-elected. In order to do that, you take sides that will piss off the least amount of people. I really wish the United States took some of Canada's policies as that society seems to be very happy with their government.

I agree that everyone should be free to live as they wish, provided they cause no explicit harm to anyone else. Getting married does not harm anyone else. I don't agree with gay marriage itself necessarily, but I wouldn't want others telling ME who is okay and not okay to wed. I don't understand why some conservatives think public policy should be based on a certain religion or moral principle. Whatever happened to good old common sense?
