Well, the initial draft of the contract I got from the publisher doesn't have an advance in it, so hopefully I can negotiate that. Even a couple of grand would go a long way toward motivating me to crank out the book, not to mention quit my day job. The alternative is sticking with the job a month longer, and I really don't want that.
