The old man in the red, white, and blue top hat bought me an upgraded cell phone today. I stopped into Verizon this afternoon to have another look at the phones before making a final decision on one.

I don't text much, if at all, so anything with a full keyboard would just be overkill and unnecessary for me. I really have no use for a smartphone, as I don't use my phone for e-mail, instant messaging, and online stuff. Combining my phone with my Palm could be useful, but not at this time. That left me with you standard flip phones and sliders. My last two phones have been LG flip phones and I have been impressed with them. They didn't have all of the bells and whistles, but they did what I needed them to. In the interest of getting something a little different, I was leaning toward one of the sliders. They look a little cooler (kind of shallow isn't it? ) and still don't have too many extra functions that I most likely won't use.

In the end I opted for the LG Decoy over the Motorola RIZR. The button layout and on-screen menu were definitely more appealing. I don't plan on sporting the headset 24/7 (i.e. look like a attention whoring cyborg), but it will be nice to have it available. Here's to hoping that this phone keeps up my luck with LG.

Side note
While at Verizon today, I overhead a girl say that she was on her third phone, and she may need to get it replaced again. How could you possibly go through that many phones? I understand about the occasional accident or faulty headset, but three phones based on use and abuse. That is a little excessive and a sign of irresponsibility if you ask me.

I did see the decoy when it first was announced and thought it looked pretty darn sexy. You'll have to tell me how you like it, b/c it looks impressive. Hopefully the bluetooth charges w/ the phone!

Honestly that's the reason I don't use my headset anymore ... it's too much of a pain to charge / remember to have it with you at all times. This might be kind of cool for you.

As for the girl that is on her fourth phone by now, I'm sure that she has mommy and daddy wrapped around her little finger. I'm sure they're rich. If it makes you feel better, people like her are there reason we don't have increasing rates b/c she and the rents pay for a portion of your bill every time they get a new phone!

When do you guys move to the new hospital? Excited, much?

Finally, do you have txt msging? There's been times I've wanted to txt you but at one time I think you had turned the functionality off through Verizon so even if somebody WERE to txt you, you'd not get it. Just wondering.

*thinks*

Yeah that's all I got. Have a good week!

Oh!

PS- We need to meet up and hit up Kent/Stow ... Christa and I haven't been in a while and we're due. If you're interested in coming, I'm sure Nick/Wayner would love to have you!

Later!

Hey Ben-

The phone came today, and activating it was a breeze. I haven't had too much time to play with it, but I do like it a lot. The headset is functional and it charges both in the phone or in its own charger. The front of the phone gets smudged easily, but that is nothing a quick wipe won't fix. The new menu is a nice change from the usual Verizon setup and the camera on this phone is really nice.

The new pharmacy will be ready for us in about 5 weeks. Once construction finishes, we will have about 2 weeks to set up the bins/shelves and start moving non essential stuff up there (i.e. files, references, office material, extra supplies, etc.) Everyone is really excited about it including myself. Once we get up there, I will have my own desk and area to do work. Right now it is just to hectic sharing computers, working off of counter tops, and storing my stuff in about 4 different drawers/shelves/bins. It will be so nice to have a place I can organize and personalize.

I do have text messaging available, but I don't use it often. I don't have a package deal right now, but if I find I start using it more, I may sign up for a small block of messages.

I would love to join you guys in Stow, and or stop up in Toledo sometime. It would be great to catch up with everyone.

Hope all is well with you.
