The old man in the red, white, and blue top hat bought me an upgraded cell phone today. I stopped into Verizon this afternoon to have another look at the phones before making a final decision on one.
I don't text much, if at all, so anything with a full keyboard would just be overkill and unnecessary for me. I really have no use for a smartphone, as I don't use my phone for e-mail, instant messaging, and online stuff. Combining my phone with my Palm could be useful, but not at this time. That left me with you standard flip phones and sliders. My last two phones have been LG flip phones and I have been impressed with them. They didn't have all of the bells and whistles, but they did what I needed them to. In the interest of getting something a little different, I was leaning toward one of the sliders. They look a little cooler (kind of shallow isn't it?
) and still don't have too many extra functions that I most likely won't use.
In the end I opted for the LG Decoy over the Motorola RIZR. The button layout and on-screen menu were definitely more appealing. I don't plan on sporting the headset 24/7 (i.e. look like a attention whoring cyborg), but it will be nice to have it available. Here's to hoping that this phone keeps up my luck with LG.
Side note
While at Verizon today, I overhead a girl say that she was on her third phone, and she may need to get it replaced again. How could you possibly go through that many phones? I understand about the occasional accident or faulty headset, but three phones based on use and abuse. That is a little excessive and a sign of irresponsibility if you ask me.
